Product Description

The Victron Phoenix Inverter 48/250 converts 48V DC battery power into a pure sine wave 230V AC output, rated at 250VA continuous. It suits installers who need a compact inverter for modest loads on a 48V battery bank, in off-grid, marine, vehicle or backup power systems.

Key features

  • Output, pure sine wave, 230V AC, 250VA continuous
  • Input, 48V DC
  • Communication, VE.Direct port for VictronConnect and GX device integration
  • Connector, IEC AC output socket
  • Weight, 2.6 kg
  • Protection, low battery voltage shutdown, overload and over-temperature cutout

Product overview

Pure sine wave output is important for switch-mode power supplies, variable speed motors, and audio or medical equipment, which can misbehave or be damaged on a modified sine wave. At 250VA this Phoenix model is sized for smaller loads: lighting circuits, instrumentation, small appliances or control systems, not high-draw appliances.

The VE.Direct port lets the inverter talk to Victron's GX range, such as the Cerbo GX, for remote monitoring, on/off control and data logging. Configuration is via the VictronConnect app over Bluetooth (with an optional dongle) or a direct VE.Direct USB interface. The IEC output socket gives a standardised connection point. Protection functions run automatically and don't need a manual reset in most cases, which matters for unattended installations.

Applications

  • Off-grid cabins, sheds or outbuildings with an existing 48V battery bank
  • Marine and narrowboat installations needing a small 230V AC output from 48V DC
  • Vehicle conversions with 48V lithium or lead-acid battery systems
  • Backup power for low-draw loads such as routers, alarms or instrumentation panels
  • Victron system integrations alongside GX monitoring

What's in the box

  • Phoenix Inverter 48/250 230V VE.Direct IEC unit

Installation notes

Fit this inverter with a qualified electrician or system integrator. DC connections at 48V carry significant fault current and need fusing close to the battery. The IEC output isn't intended for direct connection to fixed wiring without proper isolation and protection. Any work forming part of a building electrical installation must follow BS 7671 and be carried out by a competent person. VE.Direct connectivity needs a compatible cable or interface adapter, sold separately.
