Product Description
The Victron Lynx Shunt VE.Can is a DC busbar shunt module built into Victron's Lynx modular distribution rail. It measures battery current, voltage and state of charge, and sends that data over the VE.Can network to compatible Victron devices. It suits off-grid, marine and vehicle installations where accurate DC monitoring matters.
Key features of the Victron Lynx Shunt VE.Can
- Integrated shunt measures DC current directly within the Lynx busbar
- VE.Can interface links to compatible Victron MPPT controllers, inverter/chargers and GX devices
- Monitors battery voltage, current, state of charge, power and consumed amp-hours
- M10 busbar connection points for low-resistance DC connections
- Slots into the Lynx modular rail alongside Lynx Power In, Distributor and Ion Battery Protect modules
- Removes the need for a separate standalone battery monitor on a Victron VE.Can system
How it fits into a Lynx system
Rather than sitting as a standalone monitor, the Lynx Shunt VE.Can slots into the busbar rail itself, keeping the distribution board compact and the cabling tidy. Measurement data travels over VE.Can to a GX device such as a Cerbo GX, where it is logged and used for state-of-charge calculations and load management. Because the shunt is embedded in the busbar rather than wired in-line separately, there is no extra voltage drop from external shunt wiring and the measurement point stays consistent.
The M10 connection standard matches the high-current DC cabling used in professional battery systems. It works within Victron's VE.Can ecosystem, including Multi and Quattro inverter/chargers, SmartSolar MPPT controllers with VE.Can, and current GX devices. A separate BMV battery monitor is not needed when a GX device is already on the network.
Applications
- Off-grid solar systems using Victron Lynx DC distribution busbars
- Marine and narrowboat installations needing integrated DC monitoring within a Lynx rail
- Vehicle and motorhome conversions built around the Victron Lynx system
- Commercial and industrial battery storage systems on VE.Can-networked Victron equipment
Installation notes
Fitting should be carried out by a qualified electrician or experienced Victron system integrator. The module is designed for the Lynx modular busbar rail and needs a VE.Can-capable GX device on the network to display the readings. DC connections should be torqued to the M10 specification and the VE.Can network terminated correctly at both ends. It is not intended for standalone use outside the Lynx system.
