Why a DC-DC converter

Running 12V loads from a 24V bank usually means keeping two separate battery systems. This converter removes that need: it draws from the 24V bank and delivers a stable 12V rail for lighting, instrumentation or communication gear. Because it is non-isolated, the negative terminals of input and output are linked internally, which fits most vehicle and marine wiring where a shared chassis ground already exists. It is not suitable where galvanic isolation is required, Victron's isolated Orion-Tr range covers that case instead.

Applications

Fitted in 24V vehicles, marine vessels and off-grid cabins or caravans to power 12V accessories such as radios, chart plotters, navigation lights and instrumentation. Also used in commercial vehicles with 24V systems needing a stable 12V feed for ancillary equipment, and in motorhomes converted from 12V to 24V that still carry legacy 12V devices.

Installation notes

Input and output negatives are connected internally, so confirm a shared ground suits your setup before fitting. Fuse the input wiring close to the battery and size cables for the input current at 24V. Fitting should be carried out by someone familiar with DC systems.
