This current transformer measures AC current for the Victron MultiPlus-II inverter/charger, producing a 50mA secondary signal from a 400A primary load. It connects via a 10-metre wire-end cable, giving installers room to position the metering point away from the inverter itself.

Why it matters for ESS installations

The MultiPlus-II uses this signal to monitor grid import and export in real time, which is what allows correct power assist, grid feed-in control and ESS charge/discharge management. Without accurate current data at the CT input, the inverter cannot manage these functions properly.

Cable length in practice

A 10-metre run means the metering point can sit some distance from the inverter or GX device without a field-spliced extension, which can introduce errors into the signal. The wire-end format connects straight to the designated terminal on the MultiPlus-II.

Installation notes

Fit this by a qualified electrician familiar with MultiPlus-II and ESS setup. The CT clips around the correct conductor, usually the grid live feed, and must be oriented as specified in the MultiPlus-II manual; the wrong orientation reverses the current reading. Do not install around bundled or multi-core cable containing more than one current-carrying conductor. UK grid-connected ESS installations must meet G98 or G99 requirements as applicable.
