Product Description

The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 150/100-Tr VE.Can is a high-current MPPT solar charge controller for a solar panel to charge controller setup, rated for a 150V maximum PV input voltage and 100A charge current output. It suits professional off-grid and large battery charging installations where network monitoring, system integration and high charge capacity matter.

Key features of this charge controller for solar panel systems

  • PV input, 150V maximum open-circuit voltage.
  • Charge current, 100A maximum output.
  • Networking, VE.Can port for direct integration with Victron GX devices, Cerbo GX and the VictronConnect ecosystem.
  • Tracking, true MPPT algorithm continuously tracks the maximum power point.
  • Connection type, TR screw terminal on both PV and battery sides.
  • Battery compatibility, lead-acid (AGM, gel, flooded) and lithium-ion, with configurable charge profiles.

A rotary switch handles battery voltage selection, with fine-tuning available through VictronConnect software. Built-in protection covers PV reverse polarity, battery reverse polarity, over-temperature and short circuit.

Product overview

This model sits at the upper end of Victron's BlueSolar MPPT range. A 100A charge current means it can deliver up to 5.8kW of charge power into a 58V battery bank, or proportionally less at lower battery voltages. That suits large 12V, 24V or 48V battery systems where multiple PV strings combine before the controller. The 150V PV input ceiling allows series-connected panel strings of reasonable length without a high-voltage DC system.

The VE.Can interface is what separates this unit from the standard BlueSolar MPPT 150/100-Tr. It connects directly to the CAN-bus network used by Victron GX devices, so the controller appears as a managed device within a larger system. That enables coordinated charging, state-of-charge awareness from a connected battery monitor, and full data visibility through the VRM portal. Where multiple MPPT controllers are installed, VE.Can allows all units to be monitored from a single GX device without extra adaptors.

The TR designation refers to the screw terminal connection format, appropriate for fixed installations using standard DC cable. The unit is housed in a metal enclosure and weighs 4.5kg, reflecting the thermal mass needed to dissipate heat at sustained high charge currents.

Applications

  • Large off-grid systems with 24V or 48V battery banks needing high charge current from multiple PV strings.
  • Marine and motorhome installations already using Victron GX-based system monitoring.
  • Commercial off-grid cabins, telecoms shelters and remote power systems with data logging requirements.
  • Multi-controller installations where VE.Can networking allows centralised monitoring of all charge sources.
  • Battery charging systems integrated with Victron Quattro or MultiPlus inverter-chargers via a shared GX device.

Installation notes

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited solar installer. PV input voltage must never exceed 150V, including cold-temperature open-circuit voltage, so string Voc calculations should account for minimum site temperatures. The VE.Can bus requires correct termination resistors at each end of the network; Victron supplies RJ45 terminators for this. Battery chemistry and voltage must be configured correctly before commissioning, and charge settings should be coordinated across all connected devices where a generator or grid supply feeds the system via an inverter-charger.
