Product Description

The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 100/30 is a solar charge controller for 12V and 24V battery systems, taking a maximum solar input of 100V and delivering up to 30A of charge current. It suits off-grid installations, marine applications and mobile systems where reliable battery charging is needed without Bluetooth connectivity.

Key features

  • Maximum PV open circuit voltage, 100V, allowing series-connected panel configurations.
  • Charge current, 30A maximum, for 12V and 24V battery banks.
  • Charging method, MPPT algorithm tracks the maximum power point of the solar array.
  • Battery detection, automatic 12V or 24V detection on first connection.
  • Battery compatibility, lithium-ion (LiFePO4), AGM, gel and flooded lead-acid.
  • Load output, built-in, with low voltage disconnect to protect against over-discharge.
  • Weight, 1.38kg, wall-mountable enclosure.

Product overview

Multi-stage MPPT charging converts solar energy into usable charge current more efficiently than a PWM controller would, particularly on partially cloudy days or when panel voltage sits well above battery voltage. The 100V input ceiling gives flexibility when wiring panels in series, which can help cut cable losses on longer runs.

Once connected, the unit detects whether the battery is 12V or 24V and applies the matching charge profile. Charge parameters for different battery chemistries can be adjusted through the VE.Direct port, using a VE.Direct to USB cable and the VictronConnect app on PC or Android, so absorption voltage, float voltage and equalisation can be tuned without a separate display.

The load output switches DC loads such as lighting or small appliances. Its low voltage disconnect monitors battery state, cuts the load before the battery reaches a damaging depth of discharge, and reconnects once it has recovered.

Applications

Off-grid cabins, sheds and outbuildings running 12V or 24V systems. Marine and narrowboat installations needing dependable solar charging. Campervans and motorhomes. Remote monitoring stations and telecoms equipment with DC power needs. Small rural or agricultural sites away from the grid.

Installation notes

Fit by a qualified electrician or experienced solar installer. The PV array open circuit voltage must not exceed 100V under any conditions, including cold weather, which raises panel Voc. Connect the battery before the solar array. A VE.Direct cable, sold separately, is needed for configuration and monitoring. The unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 compliance, but DC wiring should follow BS 7671 and any applicable marine or vehicle wiring standards.
