The Victron Blue Smart IP65 12V 4A is a compact, weatherproof battery charger for 12V lead-acid and lithium batteries in vehicles, boats, caravans and off-grid systems. Product overview

The sealed, splash-resistant housing suits engine bays, lockers and other locations where moisture and dust are a risk. IP65 means it tolerates direct water spray, but it is not designed for submersion. Bluetooth is part of the unit itself, not an add-on: VictronConnect gives real-time charge status, battery type settings, historical charge data and configuration options, which matters when the charger ends up under a seat or inside a battery compartment.

The seven-stage process covers bulk, absorption and float charging, plus storage mode and a reconditioning cycle for sulphated lead-acid batteries. Lithium batteries get an algorithm suited to LiFePO4 chemistry. At 4A, this charger suits batteries in the 14Ah to 100Ah range: motorcycles, leisure batteries, small boat house banks and auxiliary vehicle batteries.

Installation notes

Connects to a standard 230V mains supply via the supplied CEE 7/17 plug. In the UK, a plug adapter is required for standard BS 1363 (Type G) sockets. The mains circuit should be protected by an appropriate fuse or breaker, and the DC output connected to the battery with correct polarity as marked on the connector. Ensure ventilation around the battery during charging, particularly with flooded lead-acid types. Basic connection needs no specialist qualification, but permanent wiring into a vehicle or vessel electrical system should be done by a competent person.
