The Victron VE.Bus Smart Dongle plugs straight into the VE.Bus RJ45 port on a compatible inverter or inverter/charger and adds Bluetooth monitoring through the VictronConnect app. It suits installers and system owners who want live data without fitting a full GX device or panel.

Product overview

Once connected, the dongle draws power from the bus itself and broadcasts data over Bluetooth. No extra wiring or power supply is needed for basic monitoring and control.

Where a GX device such as a Cerbo GX isn't fitted, this gives a quick way to check status, change operating mode and push firmware from a phone or tablet. Useful during commissioning, service visits, or in smaller off-grid systems that don't warrant a permanent screen.

It does not replace a GX device for data logging, MQTT, VRM portal access or monitoring multiple devices at once. Its scope is single-device Bluetooth access. Systems needing remote internet monitoring or integration with other Victron components still need a GX device.

Installation notes

Connect to the VE.Bus RJ45 port with the device powered before pairing via VictronConnect. Work on inverter or battery systems should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer. Grid-connected systems must comply with G98 or G99 as applicable. Do not connect the dongle to non-VE.Bus RJ45 ports as these carry different signals and may cause damage.
