Product Description

The Victron Lynx Smart BMS 1000 NG (M10) is a high-current battery management system for Victron Lithium Smart batteries in 12V, 24V and 48V systems. It combines battery protection, DC distribution and system monitoring in a single DIN-rail-compatible unit built for professional off-grid, marine and vehicle installations.

Lynx Smart BMS 1000 features

  • Continuous current, 1000A, suitable for high-demand off-grid and marine systems.
  • M10 busbar bolts, a secure, low-resistance connection for heavy-gauge DC cabling.
  • Battery protection, guards Victron Lithium Smart batteries against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature and over-current.
  • Pre-charge circuit, limits inrush current when connecting inverters and other capacitive loads.
  • Communication, VE.Can for GX integration and Bluetooth for the VictronConnect app.
  • Parallel strings, supports multiple battery strings with cell balancing and individual monitoring.

How it works

The unit replaces a separate BMS, main fuse holder and DC distribution block. At 1000A continuous it handles large inverter-charger setups without extra current-limiting hardware between battery bank and DC bus. The NG designation marks updated firmware and GX integration over earlier Lynx BMS versions; data reaches a connected GX device and the VRM portal over VE.Can, while VictronConnect gives local diagnostics over Bluetooth without a GX device present.

Pre-charge is handled automatically. On power-up the BMS controls the charge sequence so inrush current into inverter capacitors stays limited, protecting the cells and the connected equipment without a separate pre-charge resistor.

Installation notes

Fit this by a qualified electrician or experienced Victron system integrator. At 1000A the currents involved carry a real risk of arc flash and fire if connections or cable sizing are wrong. It works exclusively with Victron Lithium Smart batteries and will not function correctly with other chemistries. VE.Can termination resistors need fitting at both ends of the CAN bus for reliable GX communication. Follow Victron's system design guidance for cable sizing, fusing and busbar layout suited to this current.
