4kWh Lithium Battery Storage with Microinverter | Hoymiles HiBattery 4020 X

The Hoymiles HiBattery 4020 X is a 4kWh LiFePO4 battery with a four-input solar microinverter and a backup power socket built into one IP66-rated unit. It stores solar energy generated during the day and releases it in the evening, helping you use more of your own generation instead of exporting it to the grid.

Lithium-ion battery storage for small solar systems

Built for homes with a small solar array, balcony or garden panels, the HB-4020-X model limits grid export to 800W and can be expanded to around 16kWh with additional HiBattery packs as your needs grow.

Monitoring and expansion

Bluetooth and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connect the unit to the S-Miles Home app, with open MQTT available for third party energy management systems. The Hoymiles BMS runs 48 protection functions alongside intelligent cell balancing. Start with the 4.02kWh built-in battery and add HB-4020-S packs, sold separately, to build toward 16kWh of lithium battery storage.

Applications

Suited to storing surplus energy from plug in, balcony and garden solar panels, increasing self consumption in homes and flats, and providing backup power for essential loads during a grid outage. The IP66 enclosure allows installation indoors or outdoors, including garden offices, garages and outbuildings.

Installation notes

The unit operates between -20 and 55°C, weighs 42kg and should be lifted by two people onto a firm, level surface, with free airflow for its convection cooling. Each MPPT input is limited to 60V, 32A and a 40A short circuit current. Installation should follow BS 7671 wiring regulations and current ENA and DNO requirements, including G98 notification where applicable. The off-grid backup port must never be connected to household wiring or the grid.
