The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Pro is a pulse-width modulation solar charge controller rated at 5A for 12V and 24V battery systems, built for small off-grid installations that need reliable, low-cost solar charging. It adds a programmable load output and a VictronConnect-compatible interface over the standard BlueSolar PWM range.

Product overview

PWM charging connects the solar panel directly to the battery during the bulk phase, then modulates the connection to hold the correct absorption and float voltages. It's a straightforward method, well suited to smaller systems where the cost of MPPT technology isn't justified by panel size or budget.

Battery chemistry selection

Chemistry is selected manually via a rotary switch, or through VictronConnect when a Bluetooth dongle is connected. Correct selection matters: charge voltages differ between sealed lead-acid, gel, flooded and LiFePO4, and the wrong setting affects battery life. The controller weighs 0.16 kg, compact enough for panel-mounting in tight enclosures.

Installation notes

Intended for small 12V or 24V DC systems only. Check the solar panel's open-circuit voltage against the controller's rated input limits before connecting, and set the correct battery chemistry on the rotary switch before commissioning. For LiFePO4 batteries, confirm the battery's BMS is compatible with the applied charge profile. Wiring should be carried out by a competent person familiar with DC solar installations, with the battery connection fused close to the terminal.
