Product Description
The Victron Argofet 100-2 is a FET-based battery isolator that charges two separate battery banks from a single alternator or charger, without the voltage drop that diode isolators introduce. It suits marine, vehicle and off-grid systems where independent battery banks need to stay isolated from each other during discharge while still being charged together.
Key features
- Battery outputs, charges two independent banks from one input source with no cross-discharge between them.
- FET technology, removes the 0.6V to 0.7V drop typical of diode-based isolators, so batteries get the full charge voltage.
- Current rating, 100A continuous across both output banks.
- Operation, works automatically, with no manual switching needed.
- Weight, 0.91 kg, small enough for confined installation spaces.
- Compatibility, works with standard alternators and chargers, no alternator modification required.
How it works
Current flows freely from the input to both battery banks while charging, but reverse flow between the banks is blocked. If one bank runs flat, it cannot pull current from the other through the isolator. That makes it a good fit for setups with a starter battery and a separate leisure or service battery that must stay independent in use but share one charging source. No external control signal or relay is needed for normal operation, which keeps wiring simple.
Applications
- Marine vessels with separate starter and service banks on one alternator.
- Campervans, motorhomes and HGVs needing split-charge without voltage loss.
- Off-grid systems feeding two isolated battery banks from a single charger.
- Commercial vehicles with auxiliary power needs separate from the starter battery.
What's in the box
- 1x Victron Argofet 100-2 FET battery isolator
Installation notes
Fit this with a qualified electrician familiar with high-current DC systems. Cabling should be rated for at least 100A continuous, with fusing on the input side close to the source. Mount in a ventilated spot, as the unit generates some heat under sustained load, and check it suits your alternator voltage and battery chemistry before wiring in.
