This Victron Inverter 24/1600 takes power from a 24 V battery bank and turns it into 230 V 50 Hz AC, delivered through a built-in UK BS 1363 socket. Continuous output is 1,450 W at 25 °C, with 2,100 W available at peak. Configuration and monitoring run through the VE.Direct port.

Where it fits

Vehicles, boats and off-grid systems that need mains-voltage AC from a 24 V battery. ECE R10-4 automotive directive approval makes it relevant for vehicle installations. It is rated for operation from -40 °C to +65 °C and up to 95 % humidity.

Sizing and setup

DC input runs from 18.4 V to 34 V, covering the normal operating window of a 24 V lead-acid or lithium battery bank. Output falls as temperature rises. Fitting it in a warm engine bay, locker or plant room? Size the system to the 1,300 W figure at 40 °C.

In eco mode the inverter sends a short test pulse every 2.5 s and only switches fully on when it detects a load above the set threshold. Set that threshold with care, so small loads such as phone chargers still wake it.

Heavy current makes battery voltage sag, and a fixed cut-off can trip too early. Dynamic shutdown adjusts the point to suit the load. The 28 V battery charged detection voltage and other thresholds can be changed over VE.Direct to match the battery chemistry in use. Maximum efficiency is 91 %.
