Product Description
The Victron Phoenix Inverter 48/800 converts 48V DC battery power into 230V AC at 800VA continuous output. Built as a pure sine wave inverter, it suits off-grid and backup power setups in boats, vehicles and remote buildings. A VE.Direct port allows monitoring through Victron's GX devices or the VictronConnect app, and this UK-market unit ships with the appropriate plug configuration.
Key features of the Victron Phoenix Inverter 48/800
- Output, 800VA continuous at 230V AC.
- Input, 48V DC nominal.
- Waveform, pure sine wave, suited to sensitive electronics and inductive loads such as pumps and compressors.
- Communication, VE.Direct port for GX device monitoring or the VictronConnect app via Bluetooth or USB interface.
- Weight, 5.8 kg.
- Protections, low battery voltage shutdown, over-temperature and short circuit.
Product overview
This model sits at the entry level of Victron's 48V Phoenix range. At 800VA it handles lighting circuits, small appliances, power tools and communication equipment in off-grid or backup scenarios. The pure sine wave output means it works reliably with inductive loads that modified sine wave inverters can struggle with.
VE.Direct is Victron's wired serial protocol. It gives real-time monitoring of battery voltage, output power and device status through a GX device such as a Cerbo GX, or via a VE.Direct to USB cable connected to a laptop or Raspberry Pi running Venus OS. A VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle lets the VictronConnect app connect wirelessly. The 48V nominal input suits larger battery banks, where the higher voltage reduces cable losses.
Applications
- Off-grid cabins and remote buildings needing 230V AC from a 48V battery bank.
- Marine and narrowboat installations powering domestic AC loads from a 48V house bank.
- Vehicle conversions such as motorhomes and expedition vehicles.
- Backup power for communications equipment, routers and small office loads.
- Part of a larger Victron off-grid system monitored via a GX device.
Installation notes
Fitting should be done by a qualified electrician or experienced system integrator, on a correctly fused 48V DC supply with cabling rated for peak current draw. Where the installation forms part of a grid-connected or grid-backup system, UK wiring regulations (BS 7671) and network operator requirements apply. Keep the unit ventilated to avoid thermal shutdown. VE.Direct accessories such as the Bluetooth Smart dongle or USB interface cable are sold separately.
