Product Description
The GX Tank 140 is a tank level monitoring interface for use with Victron GX devices. It converts resistive tank sender signals into data readable on the GX system, letting fuel, water, waste water and other fluid levels be monitored remotely as part of the Victron ecosystem. It suits marine, off-grid and mobile installations where tank visibility needs to sit alongside the rest of the system data.
Key features
- Connects resistive tank level senders to any Victron GX device via the VE.Can (CAN-bus) network
- Supports sender resistance ranges of 0 to 180 ohms and 180 to 0 ohms, covering common marine and automotive sender standards
- Tank level data displays on the GX device touchscreen, the VRM portal and the Victron Connect app
- Weighs 0.1 kg, suited to confined spaces typical of marine and vehicle builds
- Multiple units can be connected to one GX device over VE.Can, so several tanks can be monitored at once
- Tank type is configurable in the GX device settings: fuel, fresh water, waste water, live well, oil, black water and more
Product overview
The GX Tank 140 sits between a conventional resistive tank sender and the VE.Can bus on a Victron GX system. Instead of a dedicated analogue gauge, it digitises the sender signal and passes it to the GX device as structured data. Tank levels then appear alongside battery state, inverter status and solar yield in one interface, whether that's a Cerbo GX, Venus GX or compatible equivalent.
It supports the two most widely used resistive sender ranges, covering most senders found on boats, motorhomes and off-grid installations. Configuration happens entirely within the GX device menus, with no extra software or tools needed at commissioning. Because it communicates over VE.Can, the bus address is assigned automatically and multiple units can be daisy-chained without conflict.
Tank level data logged through the GX device is also available on the VRM online portal, giving historical trend data and remote visibility for fleet operators or system managers checking installations from a distance.
Applications
- Fuel tank monitoring on narrowboats, sailing yachts and motor vessels
- Fresh water and waste water tank level display in motorhomes and campervans
- Off-grid cabin or remote site installations needing fluid level monitoring alongside energy system data
- Multi-tank installations tracking several fluid types from a single GX display
- Fleet or remote site management via VRM where tank levels need logging over time
What's in the box
- 1 x Victron GX Tank 140 unit
Installation notes
The GX Tank 140 needs connection to a VE.Can network and a compatible Victron GX device. Wiring to the tank sender and CAN-bus termination should be carried out by a qualified marine electrician or experienced installer. The VE.Can bus should be correctly terminated at both ends with 120-ohm resistors as required by the CAN-bus standard. Check sender resistance range compatibility before installation to avoid inaccurate readings.
