Product Description
The Victron Inverter 24/500 converts 24V DC battery power into 500VA of continuous 230V AC output, delivered through a built-in SCHUKO socket. It suits off-grid installations, vehicles, boats and backup power setups where a monitored AC supply is needed from a 24V battery bank.
Key features
- AC output, 500VA at 230V from a 24V DC input, with a built-in SCHUKO outlet.
- VE.Direct port, allows monitoring and configuration via a GX device, the VictronConnect app or a VE.Direct to USB interface.
- Pure sine wave output, suitable for sensitive electronics, motors and appliances needing a clean AC waveform.
- Low idle consumption, reduces battery drain when running light or no loads.
- Protection circuits, low battery voltage shutdown, overload protection and over-temperature shutdown.
- Weight, 4 kg, compact enough for mobile or space-constrained installs.
Product overview
The 24/500 sits at the entry level of Victron's VE.Direct inverter range. It converts 24V DC to 230V AC sine wave output, usable with standard European and UK appliances via its SCHUKO socket. The VE.Direct port lets the inverter join a wider Victron monitoring system without extra wiring, reporting input voltage, output load and alarm status remotely.
Pure sine wave output matters for loads sensitive to waveform quality: variable-speed motors, battery chargers, and medical or audio equipment. Modified sine wave inverters can cause problems with such devices. The protection circuits shut the unit down safely on low battery, overload or high temperature, and recover once the fault clears.
At 500VA, it's suited to individual appliances or small loads rather than whole-system supply. Lighting circuits, small power tools, laptops, televisions and similar electronics in off-grid or mobile settings are typical uses.
Applications
- Off-grid cabins and outbuildings needing a 230V AC supply from a 24V battery bank.
- Marine and narrowboat installations powering individual AC appliances from a 24V system.
- Campervans and motorhomes running laptops, televisions or small kitchen appliances.
- Backup power for low-wattage loads such as routers, lighting or communications equipment.
- Part of a larger Victron system where VE.Direct monitoring is required.
Installation notes
This inverter connects to a 24V DC battery system. DC cabling and fusing must suit the current draw at full load; undersized cabling is a fire risk. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person familiar with DC power systems. The unit is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 notification. Keep the area around it ventilated to avoid thermal shutdown under sustained load. The SCHUKO outlet is a European standard socket; a suitable adaptor may be needed for UK BS1363 plugs.
