Product Description

The Victron Inverter 12/3000 230V is a pure sine wave inverter built for off-grid and mobile power installations. It converts 12V DC battery power into 3000VA continuous output at 230V AC, and its VE.Bus interface lets it connect into a wider Victron system for monitoring and control.

Key features

  • Output, 3000VA continuous at 230V AC, drawn from a 12V DC battery bank.
  • Waveform, pure sine wave, suited to sensitive electronics, motors and compressors.
  • Communication, VE.Bus interface for parallel and three-phase configurations, plus integration with Victron GX devices.
  • Surge handling, high surge capacity for motor and pump start-up currents.
  • Protection, over-temperature, over-load, short circuit and low battery voltage shutdown.
  • Build, aluminium housing weighing 18.8 kg, suited to permanent installation.

Product overview

This is an inverter-only unit: it converts DC to AC but does not charge batteries. That makes it a fit for systems where charging is already handled separately, such as an existing MPPT solar charger with a dedicated AC charger, or where keeping weight and cost down matters. The VE.Bus port sets it apart from Victron's basic inverter range, allowing configuration and monitoring through VEConfigure software and GX devices like the Cerbo GX.

VE.Bus also supports parallel operation between identical units to raise total output, along with split-phase or three-phase setups for larger sites. That scalability suits off-grid commercial installations, larger boats and vehicles where load needs might grow. Battery state and load data feed back to the GX device, giving visibility through the VRM portal.

Running 3000VA loads from a 12V input calls for a well-sized battery bank; cable sizing and battery capacity need careful calculation to avoid excessive voltage drop. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or accredited installer.

Applications

Used in off-grid cabins, marine vessels needing 230V AC from a 12V bank, campervans and coaches with high AC loads, and backup power systems where charging is handled by separate equipment. It also fits scalable off-grid systems built around VE.Bus parallel or three-phase configurations, with monitoring through Victron GX devices and the VRM portal.

Installation notes

This inverter draws high DC currents from a 12V battery bank, so correct cable sizing, fusing and terminal torque matter for safe operation. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, and any connection to an AC distribution board must comply with BS 7671 wiring regulations. VE.Bus configuration should be done using VEConfigure by an installer familiar with the Victron ecosystem. This unit is not grid-tied and does not require G98 or G99 notification.
