The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/85-MC4 VE.Can is a solar charge controller built for large off-grid, marine and commercial battery banks. It accepts a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 250V and delivers up to 85A of charge current, with integrated MC4 connectors on the PV input and a VE.Can port for system-level networking.

System integration

VE.Can lets this controller talk to Victron GX devices such as the Cerbo GX, giving full monitoring and data logging through the VRM portal. Multiple VE.Can devices can be daisy-chained on the same bus, which suits sites running several charge controllers in parallel. Bluetooth is built in too, so the unit can be set up and checked through the VictronConnect app on iOS or Android without a GX device present.

Applications

Fits large off-grid solar systems on 24V, 36V or 48V battery banks that need high charge current. Used in marine and narrowboat installations where VE.Can integration with a GX device matters, and in commercial or agricultural off-grid sites running several controllers on one VE.Can bus. Also suited to hybrid systems combining solar, generator and inverter/charger under a single Victron GX device.
