The Voltacon 16kW off-grid solar control cabinet is a single phase energy system built around two parallel Conversol MAX 8kW inverter-chargers with four independent MPPT controllers. It arrives fully wired and tested in the UK, so a plug and play off grid solar system is ready for fast on-site commissioning on domestic and commercial installations. Solar Assistant monitoring with Orange Pi is included and pre-configured.

Product overview

The cabinet integrates the off-grid power components into a single assembled enclosure, cutting on-site installation time compared with building a system from individual parts. The four independent MPPT controllers let multiple solar array strings be managed separately.

The Victron SmartShunt 1000A gives battery state of charge readings via Bluetooth from any Android device. The Solar Assistant controller monitors inverter performance in real time and gives remote access over Wi-Fi at no ongoing cost.

The cabinet measures 140cm wide x 120cm high x 25cm deep (model SP-1648-EM).

Installation and safety

This cabinet must be installed by a qualified electrician experienced in off-grid and battery storage systems. Battery connections, DC fusing, AC supply, earthing and ventilation must comply with IET Wiring Regulations and the manufacturer's installation guidelines. DIY installation of high-current DC or inverter systems is not recommended.
