GKN Driveline Slovenia: Plant-Wide LED Lighting Conversion

GKN Driveline Slovenia, at its plant in Zrece, converted the whole facility to LED lighting in three phases between 2013 and 2015. Voltacon LED Lighting supplied the solution.

Background

GKN Driveline operates under the GKN energy policy and the principles of ISO 50001, which the plant implemented successfully at the end of 2014. Part of that effort involves raising awareness among employees and management of the value of 'green' thinking. The LED lighting project was one of the plant's key initiatives in support of this policy.

The Project

GKN Driveline Slovenia first tested the LED solution before committing to a full rollout. The trial showed an average of 53 per cent better luminance and 60 per cent more savings in energy consumption compared with the previous lighting. On the strength of these results, the plant covered the entire site with LED lighting over three steps, completed by 2015.
