The Victron Inverter 48/1600 takes power from a 48 V battery bank and turns it into 230 V 50 Hz AC. Continuous output is 1,450 W at 25 °C, with 2,100 W available at peak. Loads plug straight into the built-in Schuko (CEE 7/4) socket, and a VE.Direct port handles monitoring and setup.

Sizing and installation

This is a stand alone battery inverter for 230 V AC loads. Output drops as the unit gets warmer: 1,450 W at 25 °C becomes 1,300 W at 40 °C. Fitting it in a warm cabinet, plant room or vehicle compartment? Size your load against the lower figure. The 2,100 W peak rating handles brief inrush from motors, compressors and power tools.

Standby draw on battery systems

With nothing connected the inverter uses 15 W. Eco mode brings that down to 3 W. It checks for demand every 2.5 s and switches to full output once the load passes your chosen threshold, so set it just below the smallest device you plan to run, phone chargers included.

Protection and operating range

Built-in protection covers output short circuit, overload, high and low battery voltage, over temperature and excessive DC ripple. Dynamic low DC shutdown takes load into account, which stops voltage sag under heavy draw from tripping the inverter early. Thresholds can be adjusted over VE.Direct to match your battery chemistry, and the battery charged detection voltage is 56 V.

The rated operating range runs from minus 40 °C to plus 65 °C at up to 95 % humidity. Please note the AC outlet is a Schuko (CEE 7/4) socket, not a UK BS 1363 socket.
