Product Description

This Victron power inverter turns a 48 V battery bank into 230 V 50 Hz AC, delivered through a built-in UK BS 1363 socket. Continuous output is 1,450 W at 25 °C, with 2,100 W available as peak. It is a compact choice for 48 V off-grid, mobile and backup systems that need mains-voltage AC for small to medium loads.

Victron power inverter 48/1600 key features

  • Output: 1,450 W continuous at 25 °C, 1,300 W at 40 °C, 2,100 W peak for motor and inrush loads.
  • DC input: 36.8 V to 62 V, for 48 V nominal battery systems.
  • ECO mode: no-load draw falls from 15 W to 3 W, with an adjustable stop/start power setting and a 2.5 s retry interval.
  • Low battery handling: dynamic low DC shutdown, a fixed shutdown at 37.2 V and a restart and alarm level of 43.6 V.
  • Control: VE.Direct port for monitoring and full programming, plus a two-pole remote on/off screw terminal.
  • Protection: output short-circuit, overload, high and low battery voltage, over temperature and excessive DC ripple.

How it works in a system

Maximum efficiency is 92 %. Working at 48 V instead of 12 V or 24 V keeps DC current down for the same output, so cable can be smaller and voltage drop between battery and inverter is reduced. The battery connects via 25 mm² (4 AWG) screw terminals.

Idle consumption counts on unattended systems. In ECO mode the unit sits at 3 W and checks for a load every 2.5 s, starting up once demand passes the threshold you set. Dynamic shutdown factors in the load, which helps avoid nuisance trips when voltage sags under heavy demand.

Build and approvals

A steel chassis with a plastic cover, rated IP21. It is certified to EN-IEC 60335-1 and EN-IEC 62109-1 and holds ECE R10-4 automotive approval for vehicle installs. Operation is rated from -40 °C to 65 °C at up to 95 % humidity.

The integrated UK outlet means a single appliance can plug straight in, with no separate AC distribution needed.
