The Ledison T8 LED tube 150cm is a direct retrofit replacement for 58W fluorescent tubes, delivering 2640 lumens from just 22 watts at an efficacy of 120lm/W. It fits straight into your existing 5ft G13 fitting, comes with an LED starter in the box, and cuts lighting energy use by up to 65% compared with the fluorescent tube and ballast it replaces.

5ft tubes are the workhorses of warehouses, workshops and commercial buildings, usually running long hours, which is exactly where the savings add up fastest. This tube is rated for 50,000 hours with 80% lumen maintenance, so it is also the right upgrade for early generation 5ft LED tubes rated at 20,000 to 35,000 hours that are now dimming towards the end of their life.

Product Overview

This 150cm (5ft) T8 LED tube carries 372 LED chips mounted on a printed circuit board with thermal vias, which draw heat away from the chips and into the anodised aluminium housing. That thermal design is what allows the tube to hold 80% of its original output across a 50,000 hour service life, and it is the basis of the 5 year warranty.

The internal driver accepts 100 to 265V AC, keeping light output stable on industrial sites where the supply voltage fluctuates. Because the 120 degree beam directs all 2640 lumens downwards rather than losing a large share inside the fitting, the useful light on the working plane matches the fluorescent tube it replaces, and the rotating end caps let you fine tune the beam direction after installation.

All tubes are supplied with a frosted cover as standard. The frosted finish spreads light evenly along the tube and removes the dotted LED appearance, giving cleaner, more comfortable illumination in occupied spaces. Clear covers are available on request, subject to stock.

Installation and Safety Notes

On fittings with a conventional magnetic ballast and starter, installation is simple: isolate the power, remove the old starter, fit the supplied LED starter, and install the tube.

If your fitting has an electronic ballast, the ballast must be removed or bypassed and the tube connected directly to the mains supply. This modification involves rewiring the fitting and must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Always isolate the electrical supply before any work on the fitting, and ensure the installation complies with current wiring regulations.

This tube is designed for dry indoor locations. For damp or dusty environments, install it inside a suitable non-corrosive fitting. For escape routes and commercial premises that must remain lit during a power cut, a compatible emergency conversion pack with battery backup is available separately. Ledison T8 tubes comply with EU and British standards for protection against electric shock.
