MC4-Evo 2 Solar Connector Pair 10mm² 1500V | Stäubli

The Stäubli MC4-Evo 2 10mm² pair is made for heavy DC cable, where a standard 4mm² or 6mm² connector will not fit. Rated to 1500V DC and 69A, it uses Stäubli's MULTILAM contact technology to keep contact resistance low and stable across long DC runs and high current circuits.

Product overview

10mm² cable is chosen for long DC runs or higher current circuits, where a larger conductor keeps voltage drop and losses down. The connectors at each end need to match: the right contact size for the conductor and the right gland for the thicker insulation. Both halves of this pair take cable with an outer diameter of 6.4 to 8.4mm.

A connector carrying 60A or more has little margin for a poor joint. MULTILAM contacts use spring-loaded louvres pressed against the pin at many points, keeping resistance low through years of thermal cycling. The operating range runs from -40°C to +85°C, and the housing is UV and ammonia resistant. It carries TÜV Rheinland certification to IEC 62852 and UL recognition to UL 6703.

Applications

Suited to long DC cable runs from array to inverter or combiner box, higher current PV circuits requiring 10mm² cable, making up 10mm² extension and home-run leads, and commercial rooftop or ground-mounted PV systems up to 1500V DC.

Installation notes

Fitting should be carried out by a qualified solar installer or electrician, using the crimping tool specified by Stäubli for the 10mm² contact size. Never connect or disconnect under load, and isolate the DC circuit first. Mate only with connectors from the Stäubli MC4 family. Unmated connectors are IP2X only, so fit sealing caps where a connector is left unmated outdoors.
