Product Description

The BFS-S3 is a string-level load break disconnect for rooftop solar PV rapid shutdown and firefighter safety. It handles 3 PV strings at up to 1500VDC and 50A per string, giving fast DC disconnection to cut electrical hazards for emergency crews during a fire or critical fault.

Solar panel rapid shutdown device features

  • String capacity, supports 3 PV strings
  • Maximum voltage, up to 1500VDC
  • Maximum current, up to 50A per string
  • Disconnection type, string-level load break disconnect for rapid shutdown
  • Safety purpose, designed for firefighter safety on rooftop solar installations

Applications

Fitted as a rapid shutdown solution on rooftop solar PV arrays wired across 3 strings, on both residential and commercial installations. It provides emergency DC disconnection at string level during a fire or fault event.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited solar installer. Wiring and positioning need to meet relevant fire safety and PV installation standards.
