7.4kW Home EV Charger Type 2 Tethered 5m Wi-Fi RFID | Vestel AC Quatro

The Vestel AC Quatro is a single phase home EV charger rated at 7.4kW, built around a 5 metre tethered Type 2 cable for Mode 3 charging. It suits driveways and garages where a fixed lead is more convenient than carrying a separate cable, and it connects to almost every current electric or plug-in hybrid car.

Key features of the EV charger

• Output, up to 7.4kW single phase, with current selectable at 10, 13, 16, 20, 25, 30 or 32A to match the property supply.
• Cable, 5 metre tethered Type 2 connector, Mode 3 charging.
• Connectivity, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, OCPP 1.6 JSON and Modbus TCP/IP for back office or third party systems.
• Access control, RFID reader as standard, with free mode, mobile app and OCPP remote authorisation.
• Load management, local and remote control, with the ability to charge from a solar energy system.
• Enclosure, IP54 and IK10 rated, suitable for internal or external wall or pole mounting between minus 25°C and 50°C.

Smart control and app

The Drive Green Next app lets you start and stop sessions, schedule charging around cheaper off peak periods, and manage power remotely. Dynamic load management is available with the optional Vestel Power Optimizer or current transformers, sold separately, so the charger can adjust its output against household consumption and avoid overloading the main fuse.

Protection built in

The unit includes DC residual current sensing at 6mA along with over current, over and under voltage, over temperature, short circuit, surge and lightning, earth fault and phase to neutral reverse protection.

Applications

Suited to home charging on driveways, carports and garages, properties with solar PV wanting to charge from their own generation, supplies with limited capacity needing load management, and holiday lets or small sites that require RFID controlled access.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with BS 7671 including Section 722 and Building Regulations, on a dedicated circuit sized for a 32A continuous load. On PME supplies, protection against a broken PEN conductor is required; the charger supports both TN and TT earthing systems. This is a single phase unit: do not modify the charger or cable, and do not use extension leads or adaptors between the charger and the vehicle.
